Artist’s words
The work combines found imagery and original illustration to create a non-hierarchical classification diagram.
The collage acts as a concurrent landscape, a visual plane where contradictions can co-exist and oppositional forces can complement each other.
The common narrative thread is connectivity, while a lot of the visual elements are hinting towards species, phylums, kingdoms and domains.
Artist’s bio
Margarita Athanasiou was nominated by Lito Kattou.
Athanasiou was born in Brooklyn, New Yοrk, and grew up in Αthens. She graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art, London specialising in New Media and has since participated in exhibitions and screenings both in Greece and abroad. She is the co-founder of the Athens Art Book Fair.

Print details
